Building permits up 10% in January

The value of construction intentions rose in Ottawa last month, due in large part to ongoing renovation to the Rideau Centre as well as plans for an east-end retirement residence.

The total value of the permits increased to $128,872,882 from $116,962,640 the year before.

There were 423 construction permits issued in January, a decrease from 507 during the same month a year earlier.
