BluMetric lands three-year contract with tech giant

Ottawa-based BluMetric Environmental announced Wednesday it has secured a three-year contract worth about $1 million to provide occupational hygiene, health and safety services to a multinational technology company.

BluMetric will provide these services to the company’s retail outlets and corporate offices, and the contract contains provisions that would allow it to provide additional services, the company said.

“This new contract builds on our strong, well-established relationship and arises from our high degree of responsiveness and sensitivity to the client’s need for practical and technically sound services in a fast-paced, high-tech work environment,” BluMetric’s corporate director of occupational hygiene and safety Lydia Renton said in a statement.

The contract is a culmination of an eight-year business relationship BluMetric has had with the client, which was not named.

The client is a “huge tech company with a well-recognized name,” BluMetric spokesperson Robin Sundstrom wrote in an email, with strong processes in place “with reference to their brand identity and how it’s used.”

BluMetric CEO Roger Woeller credited Ms. Renton and her team for the contract.

“BluMetric is excited to continue working with this leading multinational company to support their progressive endeavours,” he said in a statement.

It has been a busy start to March for the cleantech firm which provides occupational hygiene support and services such as health and safety training, air quality assessments, and compliance reviews.

On March 1, it released fiscal 2016 first-quarter results that showed continued profits but a net income that dropped from $114,000 to $16,000 year-over-year. Three days later, it announced its president and COO, David Haig, was leaving the company.
