Construction on one of the capital’s newest attractions – an interprovincial zipline above the Ottawa River – is set to resume this summer, but organizers say thrill-seekers will have to wait until 2021 to take their first ride.
“Interzip” is a planned 1,400-foot-long zipline located at the Zibi waterfront development just west of downtown that will take participants 120 feet above the Ottawa River, with views of both cities, Parliament Hill and Chaudière Falls.
Organizers had hoped the attraction would open this summer and draw some 30,000 participants in its inaugural year. However, efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic delayed construction and created uncertainty for organizers as to whether the attraction could be operated while respecting public health measures.

“While we are disappointed with this delay, we agree that it is the only course of action given the current situation,” said Zibi president Jeff Westeinde in a statement. “We look forward to resuming construction at the appropriate time, and welcoming thrill-seekers as soon as possible in 2021.”
Ottawa-based Orkestra is the advertising firm behind the project, while Skyline Ziplines is acting as the builder and operator.
