A Toronto-based real estate company announced plans Thursday to take over a loft-style office space at the corner of Queen and Bank streets as service providers continue their rush towards offering co-working spaces in downtown Ottawa.
Toronto’s iQ Office Suites said it’s leasing 13,658 square feet at 222 Queen St. to convert the 10th floor of the 15-storey office tower into a co-working space. A release states the office space, a block away from Parliament Station on the forthcoming light-rail transit line, will feature a contemporary loft style with windows on all four walls.
In a statement, the company said it separates its co-working spaces from the pack through an emphasis on privacy and security as well as offering full-service teams to support tenants.

Co-working competition is heating up as of late in downtown Ottawa.
Earlier this month, global co-working brand Spaces announced it was converting six floors at 66 Slater St. into flexible workspace. Colonnade BridgePort CEO Hugh Gorman, whose firm manages 66 Slater St., told OBJ there has been a push to diversify the tenant mix in downtown office portfolios – the previous focus on the federal government is being expanded to include tech companies, professional services firms and other tenants that appreciate flexible work environments.
Elsewhere, iQ Office Suites announced it is expanding locations in Vancouver and Toronto as well as adding offices in Calgary and Montreal.
