Ottawa’s newest interior design software company is ready to take the city by storm.
Mydoma Studio develops project workflow and client collaboration software aimed at interior design professionals who want to save time and keep their files organized.
It’s also being used by decorators, home builders and three North American schools. As an early stage tech startup, CEO Sarah Daniele says Mydoma Studio’s revenues are growing rapidly.

Investing in the next generation: Ottawa businesses encouraged to build futures through mentorship
Do you remember the mentor in your life who helped shape your career? In the business world, success often depends on the connections we build, fuelled by guidance and support
The company went through a closed beta phase before officially launching in April 2015. It now has six employees.
Daniele says the company was originally created to fill a personal need.
“As an interior designer myself, I realized there was a lack of software easily (available to) help me manage my projects and work with clients online. I was struggling to scale my business and needed tools to help me streamline my processes,” she says.
Last month, Daniele returned to her alma mater, Algonquin College, to help students acquire practical skills for their own future design businesses.
She will be returning on Oct. 24 to speak to additional classes in Algonquin’s interior design program and says working with post-secondary institutions are part of the company’s business plan.
“We have made inroads with the colleges and universities by working directly with the professors. Some of the relationships are from us reaching out directly and others from the professors themselves seeking software solutions for their classes,” Daniele says.
As Mydoma Studio grows, Daniele says her biggest challenge is efficiently managing her time and measuring the return on investment on all its activities and ensuring that they contribute to the firm’s broader vision.
The company’s major competitors include Design Docs and Studio Designer, but Daniele says Mydoma Studio’s expanded focus gives her firm an advantage.
“We excel at project work flow with a focus on the decision making, communication and organization of a project. Although we’re a B2B company, we’re also a B2C because Mydoma Studio encourages collaboration with clients,” she says.
