Ottawa-Gatineau residents and visitors to the National Capital Region will get the chance to take in an exhilarating new perspective of the Ottawa River and surrounding structures next year.
A zip line stretching across the Ottawa River will open to tourists and local thrill-seekers in summer 2020.
Waterfront development Zibi, which will act as the start and end points of the forthcoming zip line, hosted an event announcing the new attraction Thursday morning.

Rogers will act as the title sponsor of “Interzip,” which is being billed as the world’s first interprovincial zip line. The 1,400-foot-long zip line will take riders 120 feet above the Ottawa River, with views of both cities, Parliament Hill and Chaudière Falls.
Organizers are anticipating more than 30,000 participants in the zip line’s inaugural year.
“This zip line is certain to become one of the most shared, liked and talked-about experiences available in the capital,” said Ottawa Tourism CEO Michael Crockatt in a statement.
Ottawa-based Orkestra is the advertising firm behind the project, while Skyline Ziplines is acting as the builder and operator. Construction began this past summer and is expected to wrap up in the spring.
