Rob White, a perennial Ottawa tech board member and the man purportedly behind one of the biggest acquisitions in the city’s history, is bringing his expertise to You.i TV, replacing the retiring Pete Rose as chief financial officer.
White takes the CFO role at the Kanata-based television application developer after a career in tech finance that saw him spend 12 years with IBM. During that time, he oversaw that company’s acquisition of Cognos in a deal worth $5 billion – one of the largest acquisitions in Ottawa’s history.
White’s role at You.i TV will involve fundraising to scale the fast-growing firm, according to a job description posted when the firm first signalled the retirement of incumbent CFO Peter Rose in June.

You likely already know that Kanata North is home to numerous thriving technology companies. But did you know it actually boasts the highest concentration of technology talent in North America?
“Companies that thrive have more than innovative products and operational discipline; they also have the financial readiness to live up to their potential,” said CEO Jason Flick in a statement announcing the hire.
“Rob’s expertise – particularly in fund raising, deal making and global expansion – will be invaluable as we ramp revenues and approach inflection points that demand strong financial guidance.”
The incoming CFO already knows Flick professionally, as both serve on the Invest Ottawa board of directors. White also serves on the boards of Ottawa companies Pythian, LiveQoS, MASV.io and Cliniconex, as well as acting as a strategic advisor to MindBridge AI and Member365, and as a mentor with the L-Spark accelerator.
