In a follow-up to Techopia’s feature on the 5G buzz in Ottawa, Ritch Dusome – CENGN’s president and CEO – and Rob Cameron, Nokia’s vice-president of mobile strategy, took the orange seats this week to talk about the activity in Ottawa surrounding next-generation networks.
CENGN is essentially a publicly-funded telecom playground for its multinational partners and SMEs in the city. Interns are trained in new technologies and tech firms can use its facilities to collaborate and take advantage of the expertise built up in the hub; Nokia is one such partner, and Cameron expressed the importance of the collaborative ecosystem that CENGN fosters.
“Companies that day-to-day otherwise compete in the marketplace are able to contribute assets and contribute to CENGN, create an environment that enables small-to-medium enterprise,” he told Techopia Live. “The ecosystem it enables is of tremendous value to Nokia.”
