She Shops, the ultimate guide to women-owned shops and services in the nation’s capital, will be launched this spring.

Call Betty, a local marketing company, has spearheaded this initiative in conjunction with the businesswomen of Ladies Who Lunch, an 18,500 member strong network.

She Shops has recently signed an agreement to make Great River Media, publisher of the Ottawa Business Journal, their distribution partner for the innovative directory which will be available in both print and online versions.

“We wanted to create a useful resource that showcases the dynamic variety of women-owned shops and businesses throughout our region,” explains Catherine Landry, Chief Dispatcher at Call Betty.

“We have so many amazing female entrepreneurs who work very hard to support and promote each other,” adds Catherine. “She Shops will include restaurants, law firms, health care service providers, tradespeople, scientists, mobile companies and so much more. Our ad sales are going extremely well and we expect to sell out this first edition of She Shops very soon.”

Catherine explains that She Shops has chosen to make Great River Media its distribution partner due in large part to the integrity of the organization and its commitment to local business.

“It’s exciting to work with a company that shares our corporate vision and I think She Shops will be an even greater success because of this partnership,” she says.
Michael Curran, president of Great River Media, echoed Catherine’s enthusiasm for this project.

“It represents a great opportunity for us to work with other local publishers and we believe She Shops is going to be a fantastic resource,” he notes. “Leveraging the Ottawa Business Journal’s extensive network, we are proud to help female business owners connect with potential customers as well as the female entrepreneurial community in and around Ottawa. It’s a logical extension of our ongoing work to support women in business across the National Capital Region.”

Plans are already in the works for the next edition of She Shops, a holiday themed publication due out in the fall. For more information, contact Catherine Landry at Callbetty613@gmail.com or visit https://sheshopslocal.ca.
