Roxborough Group continues acquisitions with purchase of Foley motorcoach division

Roxborough Group

Roxborough Group, an Eastern Ontario passenger transportation company, has acquired Foley Bus Lines motorcoach division, the company announced Wednesday.

The acquisition comes two years after Roxborough purchased Foley’s school bus division, allowing it to expand into Central Ontario.

“Joining forces with Foley Bus Lines is an exciting opportunity for Roxborough to further expand our offerings in Ontario and beyond,” said Nick McRae, president of Roxborough Group and former Forty Under 40 recipient, in a news release. “Foley has an outstanding team and a modern fleet of coach buses and, by combining our family-owned and operated businesses, we can provide even higher levels of route availability and transportation services.”

Under the terms of the acquisition, Roxborough will integrate existing Foley Bus Lines team members into its 417 Bus Lines division. This will expand the company by 20 employees and six coaches. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“The transition of our school bus division in 2021 was seamless and we expect the same for our motorcoach division. We are thrilled to become part of the Roxborough family,” said Duane Foley, owner and president of Foley Bus Lines.

Founded in 1959 by Duncan McRae and Bernard Villeneuve with one school bus, Roxborough now operates close to 890 vans, buses and coaches in Eastern and Central Ontario.

Nick McRae and Blaine Filion joined the ownership group in 2008 and have grown the business into new markets by acquiring numerous companies. Most recently, in January 2022, Roxborough Bus Lines completed its acquisition of 417 Bus Line Limited, taking over operations of the facility in Casselman and adding 220 staff and 230 vehicles to its operations.

Roxborough now operates facilities in Avonmore, Alexandria, Casselman, Clarence Creek, Greely and Madoc, with a team of more than 900.

Foley Bus Lines is a family-owned and operated transportation company that was founded by Joe Foley in 1961. In 1986, Duane Foley took over the company from his parents.
