Mark Motors is a family owned automotive dealership founded in 1959 by Austrian-born Louis Mrak. Mark Motors originally opened its doors as a European car service center here in the Nation’s Capital. “When our Dad started his business his motto was to drive the Mark of Excellence. Today, we have slightly shifted it to a Tradition in Excellence which is used to remind us of where we came from and to continue to live the culture we have been successful with,” says president Michael Mrak.
As a family and a business, we truly believe that our community and its support have been fundamental to our success, and it is for this reason that we give back to the community.
This has consistently been a strong philosophy of ours and by our founder, Louis Mrak, who was always a big supporter of the Austrian and German community. He was honoured by the Austrian Canadian Council in November 2008 with a gold medal recognition for his outstanding support and service in the community. While Louis proudly supported his culture and heritage, he was even more grateful for his community here in Ottawa.
“Without our community and taking care of our customers we would not have a business and it is important that we take care of each other,” says executive vice-president Liza Mrak.
Today, the Mark Motors Group are proud supporters of the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, the National Arts Centre, Royal Ottawa Hospital and the United Way. The family was recognized in 2015 as the outstanding small business philanthropist.
