A pair of Ottawa space tech companies collectively secured nearly $1 million in fresh funding this week from the Canadian Space Agency to add some rocket fuel to their R&D efforts.
Square Peg Communications and Mission Control Space Services received $719,935 and $249,991 respectively from the CSA’s Space Technology Development Program, according to a page on the federal agency’s website. The program funds companies working in the Canadian space industry to develop technologies with strong commercial potential.
Square Peg, which also received $584,775 through the STDP last year, will use the fresh funding to develop a radio-frequency testing technology for low-earth orbit satellites. Mission Control, which got some $399,848 through the program in 2018, will fund the development of operations and autonomy framework for upcoming commercial lunar exploration missions.
