The start of the new year means new tech at the Consumer Electronics Showcase, and several local Ottawa area companies are in Las Vegas this week to flaunt their latest products.

The new product acts as a base platform for outfitting vehicles with autonomous drive features such as collision avoidance and reading traffic signs. The company advertised improvements to its operating system’s safety and security features, in keeping with BlackBerry CEO John Chen’s assertion in December that the company is targeting the intersection of security and mobility.
Kanata’s You.i TV made its third trip to Las Vegas with its new You.i Engine One front and center. The product is an out-of-box solution for media companies to create their own TV and video-on-demand platforms, which the company claims can cut development efforts necessary for such an interface in half.
The company is also showcasing the latest results from its partnership with Turner Broadcasting by adapting its Cartoon Network app for use on Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV platforms.
Speaking of Amazon, the team from Amazon Alexa, a project in-development in Ottawa, also made their way down to CES to showcase the latest developments in the company’s voice-responsive smart home system.
CES 2017 runs from Jan. 4-7 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
