Traffic at the Ottawa International Airport dipped slightly in June, marking the local travel hub’s first year-over-year decline in traffic volumes since the start of the year.
Some 434,921 travellers passed through the gates of the Macdonald-Cartier International Airport last month, down from 437,917 in June 2018, according to figures from the Ottawa International Airport Authority.
A drop in travellers heading to and from the United States led the decline, as transborder passenger volumes were 4,000 fewer year-over-year. International traffic saw a slight uptick while domestic traffic was relatively stable in June.

Despite the slow June, the Ottawa airport’s passenger volumes are still trending higher over the first half of the year. To date, 2,568,201 travellers have passed through the airport this year – by this point in 2018, that number was a bit over 2.5 million.
