Wisconsin-based Oshkosh Defense, which has an office in Ottawa, plans to bid on the Canadian Forces’ standard military pattern truck contract of the proposed medium support vehicle system.
Oshkosh Defense, which is a division of Oshkosh Corp. (NYS:OSK), stated that its vehicle would include features such as “state-of-the-art drive train, advanced suspension, improved braking and superior armour protection systems.”
Oshkosh would be the prime contractor and its Canadian suppliers, which were not disclosed, would also be used if it was selected. Work such as program management, engineering and purchasing support would be done from Ottawa.

Public Works said in a press release Thursday that it had issued a request for proposals to acquire a new fleet of up to 1500 medium-sized trucks and associated logistics for the Canadian Armed Forces.
Vehicle testing and other government evaluations are scheduled to take place next year, with a final contract expected to be announced in fall 2015.
Vehicle deliveries would take place between summer 2017 and summer 2018.
