NCC looking for Lebreton Flats development proposals

The National Capital Commission announced Tuesday it has begun seeking proposals for what it calls the “most significant urban development site in Canada’s Capital” – 9.3 hectares of land on Lebreton Flats.

The NCC is also looking for proposals for “option lands” of an additional 12.3 hectares.

NCC CEO Dr. Mark Kristmanson called Lebreton Flats a “prime strategic location for a signature development.”

“We are inviting the private sector to reimagine this exceptional site as a destination for all Canadians who visit their capital city,” Dr. Kristmanson said in a statement.

The NCC is encouraging developers to imagine a world-class, inspirational destination that demonstrates “design excellence and innovation.”

The invitation is step one of the process. Successful proponents will be short-listed and invited to submit a more detailed design complete with a financial proposal.
