Ottawa’s on-the-go entrepreneurs will soon have free access to office space in major cities across the world.

WeWork, which operates almost 500 co-working spaces in more than 100 cities around the globe, announced Tuesday it’s partnering with Invest Ottawa and its regional counterparts in Kitchener-Waterloo, Toronto and Montreal to offer complimentary access to its offices and services.

The “startup passport” program will entitle startups associated with Invest Ottawa to free access to any of the company’s workspaces – in addition to the perks and member network that comes with being a WeWork member – once per month. After the complimentary use, entrepreneurs can book workspace for a standard fee.

A press release states the program aims to help growing businesses access international markets. It’s also pitched as a go-to spot for bringing potential investors for a meeting – slightly quieter and more professional than a busy coffee shop, perhaps.

A WeWork spokesperson said there’s no announcement right now about a potential WeWork location in Ottawa, so local entrepreneurs will need to grab a passport and travel to take advantage of the company’s workspaces.
