Aimia Inc. to report Q4/full-year earnings on Thursday. The Montreal-based loyalty rewards company recently completed the sale of its Aeroplan program to Air Canada for $450-million. Aimia said about half of its 1,500 employees will move to Air Canada as a result of the transaction.
Dollarama update
Dollarama Inc. releases Q4 results on Thursday. CEO Neil Rossy said in December the Montreal-based dollar store chain will focus more of its attention on its lowest priced products in a bid to keep its comparable store sales growth from slowing.
Economic health
Statistics Canada is set to report gross domestic product figures for January on Friday. The Canadian economy slowed to a crawl in the fourth quarter of last year, raising concerns about the pace of growth to start this year. The Bank of Canada has said it believes the weakness will last through the first half of 2019, which is longer than it had predicted earlier in the winter.
BlackBerry results
BlackBerry Ltd. reports its fourth-quarter results on Friday before stock markets open for trading. The company announced earlier this month that it is establishing a new subsidiary, BlackBerry Government Solutions, in the U.S. that will be focused on ensuring that more of its products meet strict American requirements for highly secure cloud-based services.
