Two Ottawa companies will receive up to $1.25 million in federal investment to help develop their software and access new markets, Carleton-Mississippi Mills MP Gordon O’Connor announced Thursday.
Through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, AppZero Software Corporation will receive up to $750,000 to further develop and commercialize its automated computer application migration software.
Glitchsoft will get up to $500,000 for the further evolution of the Helios Platform, the company’s game development technology, with a goal of creating the first all-in-one mobile marketing system in the industry.

“Ottawa is a dynamic hub for technology companies like Glitchsoft and AppZero, and enabling their success is precisely why FedDev Ontario is making these investments,” Mr. O’Connor said in a statement.
The repayable contributions come from the agency’s Business Innovation initiative, aimed at strengthening the innovation ecosystem in southern Ontario.
The money is available to early stage businesses with less than 50 staff, angel investor networks and not-for-profits that provide skill development or seed financing to new entrepreneurs.
“The funding will enable us to execute on a unique go-forward strategy that uses games on mobile devices in a B2B business model to drive relationships between large entertainment content companies and consumers,” Glitchsoft CEO Andrew Fisher said in a statement.
“This investment from FedDev Ontario will allow us to grow our business faster than we otherwise could, enabling us to keep up with demand in this busy run-up to the end of support for Windows Server 2003,” AppZero CEO Greg O’Connor said in a statement.
