The International Film Festival of Ottawa (IFFO) returns for its fourth edition, bringing the best of the global film festival circuit to Canada’s Capital. From March 13 to March 24, venues across Ottawa’s downtown core will host this exciting event.
Founded by the Canadian Film Institute (CFI), IFFO aims to provide international cinema to Ottawa in a unique and expansive manner, enriching the city’s cinematic landscape alongside existing theaters and festivals. This live-action film festival offers a diverse selection of films that have garnered awards and acclaim from the international film community over the past year.
Programming includes over 20 feature films from Canada and around the world, accompanied by Canadian short films for each feature screening, forming the Official Selection. Additionally, the Festival features programs such as the perennial CFI series Canadian Masters and the IFFO series “The Female Gaze.”
IFFO’s industry event, Screen Summit, is dedicated to bolstering and inspiring Ottawa’s growing screen-based industries while addressing pertinent topics for film industry professionals. This event offers informative workshops, artist talks, and presentations aimed at enhancing the skill set of emerging and established film industry professionals in Canada’s Capital.
Another highlight of IFFO is SAVE AS, a symposium exploring efforts to preserve, promote, and distribute Canada’s and the world’s cinematic heritage. Through case studies, special screenings, and panel discussions, this symposium celebrates recent film restorations and examines ways to increase the accessibility of cinematic heritage to global audiences.
In just its fourth year, IFFO has evolved into a diverse and essential cultural event for Ottawa, showcasing exceptional cinematic content and fostering dialogue within the film community.
