Ottawa’s Domicile Developments is ironing out the details for a mixed-use tower at a site close to Beechwood Cemetary, in Vanier.
Zoning concerning the condo at 222 Beechwood Ave. was approved by council earlier this month. Now, the developer is seeking site plan approval from the city.
According to the city’s website, this stage of approvals is intended to “control or regulate the various features on the site of an actual development including building location, landscaping, drainage, parking, and access by pedestrians and vehicles.”

The development, dubbed “The Kavanaugh”, would include commercial space at grade level and residential units above, according to documents filed with the City of Ottawa.
The development would include a four-storey base, a 10-storey tower, setbacks at the second and fifth storeys, 132 residential units and 156 underground parking spaces.
Roderick Lahey Architect Inc. is listed as the building architect in documents filed with the city.
Comments on the application are due Aug. 21. The planning department’s decision on the application is expected Sept. 22.
Domicile’s tower would replace a gas station currently on the site. According to the firm’s website, occupancy is expected in 2014.
