Construction intentions in the region slowed significantly last month, despite a high number of permits issued by the City of Ottawa, according to municipal records.
A total of 507 permits were issued in January, with a combined value of $116.96 million – a 42.4 per cent decrease compared to the same period in 2012, and the lowest overall value for that month since 2010.
The decline is despite the fact that January saw a five per cent increase year-over-year in the number of permits granted, up from 483 last year.
