Carleton University files plans for new on-campus residence

Carleton University, Ottawa

Carleton University has unveiled plans for a new on-campus residence to accommodate its growing student population.

The post-secondary institution recently filed a site plan application with the city for a nine-storey building on the northeast section of the campus, just west of Campus Avenue at the corner of University Drive near the main entrance to the school.

The proposed new residence will include 166 units with beds for about 450 students. According to the development application, the building will offer “quality amenity spaces” on the ground floor, secured bike parking and an outdoor courtyard on the second floor. The residence will also be linked to the university’s underground tunnel system.
