An associate professor at Carleton University has been appointed Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Sensor Systems, Science Minister Kirsty Duncan announced Tuesday.
Sreeraman Rajan teaches in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Design.
The university says Mr. Rajan’s research is “highly relevant” to the national economy and has the potential to put Canadian companies in global leadership positions in smart multi-sensor systems.

The research, it said, will address “fundamental questions in signal processing” to develop the next generation of the now ubiquitous sensor systems.
Carleton’s Stan Winer and Ken Storey have also been renewed as CRCs. Mr. Winer, the CRC in Public Policy, researches how political and economic forces interact to shape public policy. Mr. Storey is CRC in Molecular Physiology.
After Tuesday’s announcement, Carleton now has 25 CRCs.
