Editor's Note

Each year, OBJ and the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce choose 40 of the region’s top young entrepreneurs and business executives and recognize them for their professional achievements, expertise and community service.

In these profiles, OBJ highlights some of this year’s recipients – their impressive accomplishments, what drives them and how they like to spend their downtime away from the business world.

See the full list of recipient profiles here and be sure to check out OBJ’s coverage of the 2018 gala here.

Birthplace: Fort Erie

Company: Dymon is revolutionizing storage with industry-leading solutions and services.

Education: Master of Management and Professional Accounting, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto (2004)

OBJ360 (Sponsored)

Charitable involvement: Ottawa Community Housing

Biggest biz achievement: Building and implementing an infrastructure of systems and processes at Dymon to assist in the aggressive expansion plans that are coming down the pipeline.

Biggest obstacle: Lagging infrastructure in a rapidly changing environment, including a number of disparate software solutions that were out of date.

Biggest influence: My wife, Kearin. She keeps me grounded.

Biggest lesson learned: It never hurts to ask. I’m constantly negotiating with Dymon stakeholders, and if you don’t ask, you won’t get what you want.

First job: Cleaning golf clubs in the back shop of a private country club.

Advice I’d give the younger me: Be a better listener, as you won’t always know the right answer.

What’s left to do: Professionally, I’m looking forward to continuing to build a strong team of individuals to make the Dymon vision become reality. Personally, I’m still trying to figure out how to best get that little white golf ball in the cup as quickly as possible.

Favourite pastime: Watching my kids grow and learn about the world.

I’m currently reading: Harry Potter (trying to catch up with my kids).

Favourite movie: A Few Good Men

Favourite song: Given to Fly by Pearl Jam

Favourite local pro sports team: Ottawa Redblacks

Favourite local summer event: Canada Day

Preferred social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin
