A local startup has secured a couple of back-to-back deals that will see its public safety applications integrated into the City of Ottawa’s Fire Services and emergency response teams across the world.
Ottawa-based APX CityScape develops pre-incident planning and inspection software for public safety agencies. It can collect critical information and capture images of high-risk buildings and city assets that then coalesce into interactive layouts, shareable across devices.
Touted as a smart cities application, APX’s platform can give emergency response teams a more active view of an area’s risks and hazards before entering a potentially dangerous situation.

Last month the company secured a contract with the City of Ottawa to integrate its solution into municipal fire services, and this past week it landed a deal with telecom giant Nokia. That agreement will see APX’s software plug into Nokia’s Advance Command Center, a control room product for public safety agencies with IoT and video surveillance offerings.
A release from APX states that Nokia’s customers will be able to integrate existing applications and data sources, streamline information-sharing and reduce response times thanks to the Ottawa firm’s software. The company gives the example of an emergency responder receiving updates on a building’s occupancy and structural details while on route to the scene.
Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
