Plans to add an extension to the Château Laurier will proceed to planning committee for review, but not before city staff work with the architect to again revise the proposed designs.
Despite a report from city staff recommending that the built heritage sub-committee approve the proposed designs for the 164-suite addition to the iconic Ottawa hotel, the subcommittee unanimously passed a motion asking staff to work with the applicant to again rework the design.
The subcommittee specifically asked for further integration of limestone in the new build and that it draw other elements from the existing Château structure “to enhance its bond” with the original building.
