The Kanata North Business Association’s search for a new leader will continue, but the tech-focused BIA has named an interim executive director until a permanent replacement is found.

Much of McNamee’s 25-year telecom career was spent at firms including Bell Canada and Galazar Networks, and he has spent the past five years running his own consultancy. His profile on the Kanata North website notes an active involvement in smart city applications over that time – he also serves as vice-president with i-Canada, an organization that promotes “intelligent communities” across the country.

The Kanata North BIA has been without a full-time leader since October, when inaugural executive director Jenna Sudds departed the organization after four years to help launch a new national strategy council for chief information officers.

Sudds told OBJ when she left that the BIA was close to landing on a new director from a crop of more than 100 candidates, with only references and background checks left before announcing a permanent replacement.

However, officials appear to have encountered a setback, as a LinkedIn post last week from Stratford Managers’ Amanda Gordon – who is also a member of the Kanata North BA’s board – indicates that the firm will be joining Boyden on the executive search process.
