The Canada Science and Technology Museums Corp. is putting a steampunk flair on its inaugural gala this coming week, and Techopia Live sat down with the museum’s leaders and partner businesses to set the scene for Wednesday night’s main event.
Chris Kitzan, director general of the Aviation and Space Museum, joined Spiria’s Francis Hetu and Brinx Software’s Jeff Ross to talk about the tech the local augmented and virtual reality firms will be bringing to the show, and how the firms are making art and tech work together. Hetu demoed how Spiria’s AR tech will bring steam-powered planes off the screen, and Ross showed Techopia Live how Brinx’s Masterpiece VR technology is making 3D sculpting software accessible to artists.
“We’re talking about STEM, science, technology, engineering and math, that’s what our museums are about. Adding the arts is particularly important, and this whole evening is about that,” Kitzan told Techopia Live.
