Looking to build on the successes of its inaugural cohort, Kanata-based L-Spark announced Monday it is now accepting applications for its winter 2016 incubator session.
“Our alumni are a first-hand example of the impact that high-touch mentors can have on a
company’s growth,” L-Spark managing director Leo Lax said in a statement. “Each of the startups in our inaugural cohorts advanced their products, increased revenue and strengthened their brands as a result of the constant guidance from our network of mentors, advisers and corporate partners.”

L-Spark offers both an incubator and accelerator for enterprise software-based companies.
In the incubator, Webstage, Punchtime and MyDoma launched their products out of beta while ZINation completed integrations on e-commerce platforms, Shopify and Magento, granting access to thousands of new customers. InvataCloud became the first Canadian company to join the Microsoft BizSpark Plus program, enabling the company to scale its product dramatically.
In the accelerator, The Better Software Company grew revenue by 400 per cent and closed an $800,000 round of investment.
These were among the successes celebrated last month at L-Spark’s SaaS Showcase, essentially a graduation for the first cohort of companies.
The incubator pairs successful applicants with expert industry mentors who help the fledgling companies prepare for seed investment.
“L-SPARK’s mentorship has been invaluable,” MyDoma founder Sarah Daniele said in a statement. “Nothing beats working with somebody who knows what they’re doing and has been there before, someone who has successfully walked in your shoes.”
L-Spark will select up to eight startups for the new incubator session. Applications will be accepted at the L-Spark website until Dec. 18.
