The value of local construction permits jumped by $150 million, year-over-year, in December, according to city records.
Municipal officials issued 681 permits, with a total value of $263.9 million, compared to 432 permits totalling $113.8 million in the previous year.
A two-storey research and development building in the Hawthorne Business Park lifted the total value of the permits by $6.6 million. Other sizable permits include interior alterations to the RCMP’s new headquarters on Leikin Drive, construction of a Kanata grocery store and the foundation for an eight-storey condo building on Richmond Road.
