The federal government is seeking contractors to rebuild a wall along Parliament Hill’s west slope and perform related construction work.
The information is contained within a solicitation notice on BuyandSell.gc.ca, a website for federal contracting opportunities.
The work entails rebuilding a wall, reconstructing a stairway and repairing stone masonry and “stone-faced tunnel facades” in the area.

The deadline for bids is July 17. The award will be based on a combination of qualifications and price. Once the contract is awarded, the successful proponent will have 85 weeks to complete the work.
The contract is just one of many being performed on Parliament Hill to shore up the aging West, Centre and East blocks, as well as the surrounding area. Some security upgrades also are taking place, particularly at the entrances.
