The MMM Group, an international engineering firm with offices in Ottawa, has won a contract with the government of Ontario to replace the overpass structure that takes Queensway motorists over Kent Street in the city’s downtown.
The province is paying MMM about $1 million for the design work, said Jane Munro, a spokeswoman for Ontario’s ministry of transportation. She said the entire project will cost around $12.6 million.
The project involves replacing the overpass structure using rapid replacement techniques, creating a “staging area” where construction can take place and creating sound walls around the area, according to a provincial notice advertising the work in local newspapers.

The MMM Group will be doing a detailed design over the next year. The province expects to have the contract tender package ready by fall of 2014, said Ms. Munro.
