Let’s face it: technology is rarely on our side. Phone not working? Have you tried turning it off and then on again? Whenever we need our devices to work the most is when they seem to test our limits, especially during meetings.
With multiple different devices and locations to connect from, ensuring that a meeting runs efficiently and on-time can be a challenge for organizations. If only it could be as simple as clicking one button. Well, it can.
“We try to find a way to create spaces that allow for meetings to be set up in one minute,” says Ian Smith, President of Interactive Audio Visual (IAV).
Interactive Audio Visual, a company that designs tailored solutions for office spaces, puts people at the centre of its work. IAV prioritizes efficiency and reliability, while striking a balance between work environments and technology.
When a client (do we have any more details on the client to give a bit more colour, or is this general? If not we will keep it in the present tense) requires a significant technology update for their meeting spaces, IAV ensures that all rooms could function the same way to promote consistency and ease of use. This includes the installation of mobile screens that can be transported between rooms.
“The intention behind our work is to create a user experience that is simplified. We want customers to become accustomed to a repeatable process,” says Smith.
To fix the common errors that occurred for the client when setting up a meeting, IAV simplifies the process by transitioning the company’s workspace to a solely wireless environment. Employees can use the software on their computer to connect to a call or the dongle in the meeting room. All they need to do is plug in their device, push a button and the camera and audio are shared to their device, and the presentation is displayed on the screen.
“Previously, users would waste seven or eight minutes of each meeting to get started. It is important that when people enter the room, they can begin their meetings quickly,” says Smith.
There are several benefits to an all-wireless system, including that it sometimes does not require construction.
“Leveraging wireless presentation technology simplifies physical installation. It reduces cabling construction and table connections significantly, and the time required to implement the technology,” says Smith.
To further improve functionality, IAV applied a new solution that addressed inequities in video calls. The system IAV uses extracts positional information from ceiling microphones and makes choices using artificial intelligence. It also controls the room’s cameras. The active speaker in the room is quickly identified, and the camera zooms in on them to provide a better user experience for those watching from the far-end of the room or online.
“This system ensures that everyone can be heard clearly and equitably, regardless of where they are seated. It guarantees audio-pick up uniformity.” says Smith.
Perhaps technology can be on our side after all? With IAV in control, it is possible.
