Caroline Andrews, Canadian publishing icon, joins Ottawa luxury realtors Engel & Völkers
Caroline Andrews

Caroline Andrews is one of the most well-known figures in Canadian media. Her distinguished career has included publishing some of the country’s most iconic magazine brands, from Style At Home to The Hockey News. But now, Andrews is turning her attention to Ottawa’s hottest industry: Real estate.

Whether you are a first-time buyer, someone downsizing for retirement, or an investor looking to add to your portfolio, having a trusted voice to navigate the red-hot housing market in the city has never been more important. After decades of executive leadership in business across Canada, Andrews has returned to her Ottawa roots to help others fulfill their real estate dreams.

Leaning into her passion for real estate and interior design, she has joined the boutique real estate firm Engel & Völkers as a local advisor.

Andrews spent more than 16 years at TC Transcontinental Media. As vice-president and publisher, she was at the helm of some of the country’s top magazine brands including Elle Canada and Canadian Living. She was then headhunted to YPG Digital and Media Solutions, where she was vice-president and chief publishing officer of their national portfolio of lifestyle and design magazines, which included Vancouver Magazine and Western Living. She was also in charge of their real estate publishing division helping market the largest real estate developers in Canada. Andrews chose to move back to Ottawa two years ago, the city where she grew up, and follow a new career path that was decades in the making.

Get to know Caroline Andrews

Through her various career moves, Andrews has been on both sides of the real estate transaction buying and selling in multiple Canadian markets. She’s learned first-hand what makes a great real estate agent and brings this caring approach to her clients.

“My experience in negotiating multimillion-dollar contracts in my executive roles is a very important skill when it comes to helping Ottawa homeowners maximize the returns on their real estate investment,” she says. “A home is likely the largest purchase anyone will make in a lifetime and you need a professional to ensure your needs and desires are represented.”

Trusted advisor every step of the way

As a home seller, it is important to have a solid marketing plan to attract multiple potential clients and maximize returns.

“Running two of the biggest media companies in the country, including an advertising agency, taught me how to market effectively,” she says. “I chose to be part of Engel & Völkers as the firm is cutting edge in its marketing efforts and prides itself in offering excellence in service at all price points.”

Through her career, she has been blessed to work with some of the biggest names in home and interior design and brings the aspects of functionality and practicality to the minds of both buyers and sellers.

As a buyer, it is essential that your needs and desires are at the forefront in finding that dream home.

“I take the time to discuss with buyers I am representing what they are truly looking for. We also discuss future plans to understand the growth of a family over time or downsizing and ensure the home meets today’s and future needs. When I’m showing a property, I want people to be able to picture themselves in that space,” she says.

Andrews knows from experience the importance of consistent and honest communication during the buying or selling process.

“Buying or selling a home, can be very stressful when you are left wondering what is going on,” she says. “I am always committed to continuous communication with clients to reduce any anxiety in the process. It’s important to me that this experience is fun and rewarding. There is no better feeling than seeing the smiling faces of new owners when I pass them the keys to their new home or presenting an accepted offer to a seller. It is so exhilarating, and I am ready to help in any way.”
