ABI’s journey began with a small team on Thurston Drive in 1989; four locations and almost 37 years later, Advanced Business Interiors is now one of the largest office furniture dealers in the National Capital Region.
Last year proved to be one of the company’s most successful, with the opening of their 5,000+ square foot downtown Ottawa showroom at 55 Metcalfe Street, and the move of their office and warehouse to 1071 Ages Drive.
ABI has something for everyone
Partnered with over 60 manufacturers (nearly half of which are Canadian companies), ABI offers a full range of furniture and architectural solutions tailored to diverse client needs. From the essentials in private office environments to higher education campuses, healthcare facilities, and ancillary spaces, no project is too big or too small; as a trusted Supply Arrangement holder for Workspace and Seating solutions, ABI is also an established choice for federal government offices.
Every project benefits from ABI’s 70 team members. Having the Sales, Workspace Planning & Design, Architectural Interiors, Project Coordination, and Operations departments working under one roof guarantees greater control of communication, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction.
Ottawa’s exclusive Haworth dealer
Shortly after its founding, ABI partnered with Haworth – one of the most successful global furniture manufacturers with a presence in over 120 countries. As Ottawa’s only dealer, ABI reinforces its distinctive commitment to personalized service with Haworth’s unparalleled resources, enabling its team to deliver smart, purposeful spaces.
Investing in a local footprint
Advanced Business Interiors’ downtown showroom is steps away from Parliament Hill, in suite #100 of the Manulife Place at 55 Metcalfe Street. Enveloped by 25 ft. floor-to-ceiling windows, the open space is filled with natural light and showcases nearly 100 different products from manufacturers around the world.
The revitalization of the downtown core – along with the influx of in-office workers – have increased traffic in the area, making visits easily accessible for those working nearby.
Since its opening in Summer of last year, the new location has hosted many showroom tours for both new and long-term clients; it’s also made its footprint on the A&D community, accommodating several Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and activities for local manufacturers, design firms, and organizations.
Streamlining the working environment
ABI officially opened the doors to their new HQ in November of 2025. Leaving behind an office with separated departments and unneeded space, the new location features a tighter-knit, more structured and intuitive layout, allowing team members to optimize collaboration and efficiency. The attached warehouse spans over 35,000 sq. ft. and is also offered as a storage area for clients.
Canadian-made products are spotlighted more than ever before, ensuring a wide spectrum of price points and preferences are available. The main hub is also open for tours and presentations for clients and those looking to learn more about ABI’s process and services.
The future of Advanced Business Interiors
“Our tagline is ‘Make Space Work’ because this is what we do,” says Bill Toutant, President of ABI. “We’re incredibly grateful for loyal clients and supportive community for being with us over the last 37 years.”.
