The Ottawa Community Foundation’s (OCF) board of directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Maidment as President & CEO of the Ottawa Community Foundation, effective April 17th, 2023.
As former CEO of the Ottawa Food Bank and the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, Michael brings extensive experience in the local non-profit sector, in-depth community knowledge, and innovative leadership skills to his new role.
Michael has helped shape policy development and government relations throughout his career. His significant involvements include being a member of the roundtable that helped develop Canada’s first legislation on Human Trafficking, the Board Chair of Feed Ontario, the provincial association of food banks and as a member of several national committees with Food Banks Canada. Michael was also the former chair of the City of Ottawa Poverty Issues Advisory Committee – a committee responsible for advising city councillors and senior city staff on poverty-related issues – and was a member of the steering committee that developed Ottawa’s Poverty Reduction Strategy, passed by Council in 2010.
Having worked with donors and stakeholders from all walks of life, Michael will lead the organization as it carries on its tradition as a premier destination for community philanthropy in the National Capital Region.
Born in Thompson, Manitoba and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador, Michael has called Ottawa home for 25 years.
