An Ottawa-based company is getting a boost from the federal government as it looks to disrupt networking technologies.

Rockport Networks will receive a $2.9-million loan from FedDev Ontario, the government agency announced this week. The company will put the money towards developing its networking solution, which purports to improve the efficiency of data centre connectivity.

Founded in 2012, Rockport Networks employs more than 50 people at 515 Legget Dr., where the company holds some 35,000 square feet of space.

With the FedDev funding, Rockport Networks expects to hire some 20 people in Kanata.
