Two Ottawa companies have made Deloitte’s 2014 Technology Fast 500 rankings.
The list, released Thursday, ranks companies by revenue growth over a five-year period. Not surprisingly, local e-commerce juggernaut Shopify, perhaps the region’s hottest company over the past few years, not only made the list but cracked the top 10 at No. 7, with revenue growth of 16,759 per cent between 2009 and 2013.
Shopify’s impressive growth is just one reason its CEO, Tobias Lütke, will be honoured at the upcoming Best Ottawa Business Awards as the CEO of the Year.
Kanata’s Solace Systems came in at No. 288 with revenue growth of 319 per cent over that same period.
Solace Systems produces message routers. CEO Craig Betts said his company is succeeding because it is able to help its customers manage rapidly increasing amounts of information.
“By creating special-purpose message routers that make networks application aware, Solace makes it easy for companies to manage and share unprecedented amounts of data,” Mr. Betts said in a statement. “Reinventing this essential application connectivity layer from the ground up is what has made us one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies over the last 10 years.”
