Marchwood Golf Course seeks zoning extension

An executive par-3 golf course in Kanata is aiming to tee up another three-year zoning exemption from the city.

The Marchwood Golf Course, located on March Valley Road near the Brookstreet Hotel, is a small-scale version of the Marshes course next door. Both courses are part of the Brookstreet resort complex owned by Terry Matthews-backed Wesley Clover International.

The nine-hole, par-27 Marchwood facility has been operating since 2005 on land that is zoned for industrial business park use. The European PGA-approved short course has received a series of site-specific bylaw exemptions that have been renewed every three years, with the latest one set to expire near the end of April.

The Marchwood’s larger companion course is one of the region’s best-known layouts. Opened in 2002, the par-72, 7,026-yard Marshes Golf Club course has hosted five Canadian PGA Seniors Championships and the 2015 world junior girls’ championship.
