Gabriel donation to Montford
Editor's Note

Philanthropy in Ottawa is supported by The Foundation (WCPD), an Ottawa-based philanthropic tax planning advisory WCPDfirm that helps individuals and foundations increase the size and impact of their charitable donations.

Donor: Gabriel Pizza

The donation: $100,000

The recipient: The Orleans Health Hub

The inspiration: “Gabriel Pizza grew up in this very community. Gabriel Pizza is deeply rooted in Orléans,” says George Hanna, president of Gabriel Pizza. “The Orleans Health Hub is an important facility to the on-going health care of area residents. It is only natural that we would support such a worthy initiative.”

Gabriel Pizza rolled out the dough for the Montfort Hospital this week through a $100,000 donation.

The Orleans Health Hub (OCC) is an important community service as it includes access to integrated programs in the neighbourhood of Orleans. The OCC is one location making it easy for families to connect to health solutions. Everyone from babies to the elderly can access healthcare at the Orleans Health Hub as the services are offered in both French and English.

The Orleans Health Hub is a Montfort Hospital-led partnership. Organizations in the partnership include Bruyère, Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa, Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre, ParaMed, Ottawa Public Health, Geriatric Psychiatry Community Services of Ottawa and Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain.

Gabriel Pizza is also committed to recognizing the contribution of the Montfort Staff. On several occasions, the Montfort staff have been treated to delicious pizza including several times during the pandemic and during National Nursing Week.

Over a 40-year history in the Ottawa community, Gabriel’s has given to a various charities including those focussed on education, arts, sports and healthcare.

“The Montfort Foundation is at a turning point in the development of philanthropic partnerships with corporate leaders and this starts locally. Michael and George Hanna have been supporting a number of charities in the Ottawa region for so many years now, they really understand the value and impact of their connections with our organizations, now with Montfort, says Marc Villeneuve, president and CEO of the Montfort Foundation.

“This new alliance sets the tone in a very tangible way while providing us with leverage in our conversations with future corporate donors. Michael and George have a clear understanding that philanthropy is the delta through which charities achieve excellence. Their support has direct impact on the lives of our patients and their families,” adds Villeneuve.
