Lights, camera, action!
Ottawa Stronger Together, an online and television broadcast to rally support for the region’s business community, is ready to air on Thursday night at 8 p.m.
The one-hour broadcast can be viewed on YouTube Live in the video link above or on Rogers cable television on channel 22.
Ottawa Stronger Together is a joint partnership of Ottawa Business Journal, the Ottawa Board of Trade and Rogers Sports & Media.
A key element of the show is the presentation of this year’s Forty Under 40 award recipients.
“When we realized we could not present the Forty Under 40 at a posh gala, we needed a new plan,” says OBJ publisher Michael Curran. “Working with my colleagues at OBJ and the Board of Trade, we decided to create a full-scale television production and broaden the scope of the broadcast to acknowledge what's happening in the larger business community. We hope the whole city will tune into this.”
The broadcast will be hosted by Mark Sutcliffe and Sandra Plagakis, both Rogers Radio personalities. It will feature dozens of interviews and video messages from high-profile business leaders and Canadian celebrities.
The show will conclude with a special musical performance from a newly created band called Six Over Forty, which is largely composed of local technology sector CEOs, including Kevin Ford of Calian, John Sicard of Kinaxis, John Jastremski of MDS Aero and Jim Harmon of Boyden Executive Search. The band will dedicate its song to this year’s Forty Under 40 recipients.
“Ottawa-Gatineau’s business community is being challenged in a way we have never experienced. A high level of collaboration and community spirit is the key to our collective recovery,” says Sueling Ching, the Board of Trade’s president and CEO. “More than ever, local businesses need our support. This broadcast is an important opportunity to engage every Ottawa citizen in a community wide strategy to promote all Ottawa has to offer.”
Viewers can use the hashtag #OttawaStrongerTogether on social media to show support for local businesses.
The online and television broadcast will be followed by a Forty Under 40 After-Party on Zoom. Click here to access registration page:
