A prominent Kingston-based condo management company has boosted its portfolio after briginging a pair of competing firms under its umbrella.

Alwington Communities said this week it has acquired J. Shaver and Associates as well as Limestone Property Management’s condominium management division. Financial terms of the transactions, which both closed on Jan. 15, were not disclosed.

The deals add about 1,500 units to Alwington’s portfolio, which now numbers nearly 3,000. The firm oversees 32 condo corporations.

“Alwington’s expansion realizes a long-term goal for our company,” company president Michael Trendota said in a statement. “This growth benefits our customers by allowing us to negotiate better rates with suppliers, banks and insurance companies.”

Alwington also announced that John Shaver, the former principal of J. Shaver and Associates, has joined the company as a senior condominium manager.

Founded in 2015, Alwington Communities manages properties throughout Ontario. The firm has offices in Kingston, Hamilton, Oshawa and Guelph.
