In a burst of festive spirit, OBJ's editors gave our out-of-office announcement a bit of holiday flavour this year.
With wishlists for friends and family reaching record lengths this festive season, the Ottawa Business Journal has announced a much-needed period of reduced hours to finish up – or in some cases, start – holiday shopping.
Though retail markets had forecast a busy holiday season for months now, that didn’t stop OBJ’s editors, designers and salespeople from holding off on all their shopping until the very last minute. Reached for comment, various analysts called this decision “a rookie mistake.”
Even management wasn’t wise enough to hit the malls early this year, as at press time OBJ publisher Michael Curran was reportedly still lost searching for the perfect gift somewhere inside Place d’Orléans Shopping Centre.
“Forget it, they’re all getting gift cards,” Curran could be heard saying amidst the crowd of shoppers.
To accommodate this wave of procrastination (and take some well-deserved time for a rest) OBJ will feature reduced coverage from Dec. 20 to Jan. 2. The OBJToday email newsletter will resume in the new year on Jan. 2, with the Techopia and OBJ.social newsletters returning later in January.
The next issue of the OBJ newsmagazine will hit the streets on Dec. 30, with analysis of Ottawa’s current boom in apartment construction and Techopia’s annual list of the tech firms to watch in the year ahead.
In a statement at checkout, the OBJ team wished everyone a happy holiday season and a productive new year.
