The city’s new Medical Devices Commercialization Centre has appointed Richard Meadows as its first chief operating officer, the centre announced on Wednesday.

Mr. Meadows comes to the centre with experience in commercialization of medical devices in the biopharmaceutical industry, including stints with major companies such as Bristol Myers and Procter & Gamble.

He was CEO of DERMACOR, the first wound care company in Canada, and most recently has been involved with venture capital firms investing in the life sciences sector.

In 2013, Forbes magazine recognized Mr. Meadows, who co-founded the CTI Life Sciences Fund, as one of the top 10 life sciences investors in North America.
