Ottawa’s DragonWave-X appoints ‘change agent’ Hans Amell as new CEO

A day after DragonWave-X formally came under new ownership, the firm has made news again, announcing a new CEO in the form of “change agent” Hans Amell.

Mr. Amell is also the CEO of Catalyst International Ltd., a management consulting firm that has worked with companies such as Ericsson and Honeywell. His LinkedIn reads that, as part of Catalyst’s restructuring efforts, Mr. Amell has previously taken on C-suite roles at companies he’s called in to assist.

A press release announcing his appointment calls him a “change agent,” with experience leading “major transformations in global industry leading companies.”

"We are pleased to welcome Hans Amell to the DragonWave-X leadership team, we are excited to have someone with his extensive background. His industry experience and track record in global transformation and corporate agility will be an asset to the company as we execute on our growth strategies," said Dan Hodges, CEO of parent company Transform-X, in a statement.

Catalyst International was founded in 2000, the same year as DragonWave. The company specializes in leadership development and coaching, team building and executive assessments.

DragonWave’s previous president and CEO, Peter Allen, held the roles for 13 years before resigning this summer.
